HIKING AND BIKING IN LANA
Mountains on one side, the wide plateau of the Etschtal Valley on the other - Lana is a central starting point for hiking and cycling tours at all altitudes. Enjoy the numerous cycling trails, panoramic paths and mountain routes even without a car. All hiking destinations are within easy reach by public transport or cable cars.
Walking
Start your excursions into nature directly from your apartment. Above our house there are two beautiful paths, the “Alpenrosenweg” and the “Naturlehrpfad”, which connect other hiking and walking paths. Flat paths wind their way through Lana’s orchards, also ideal for buggies. Or how about a bike tour along the Wine Route?
Especially popular with families are the two irrigation channels “Brandiswaalweg” in Lana or the “Marlinger Waalweg”. The latter leads almost evenly along an irrigation channel and offers fantastic views.
Hiking
From leisurely hikes in the valley to challenging mountain tours to one of the many three thousand metre peaks. The surroundings of Lana offer endless hiking possibilities.
The Vigiljoch is reachable on foot or comfortably by cable car, which starts only five minutes by car from our aparthotel. At the top you will find a true natural idyll among larch forests, alpine meadows and healing springs.
Further beautiful hikes run in the hiking area Meran 2000 and in the Texel Group Nature Park, like the high-altitude trail “Meraner Höhenweg”.
Excursions & Attractions
In Lana and surroundings not only nature lovers get their money's worth, but there is also something for those who likes culture and history. In addition to numerous churches, South Tyrol is rich in castles and museums.
Worth seeing is for example the Tyrol Castle with its 15 exhibition rooms of medieval culture and regional history.
In the famous Botanical Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, a 12-hectare garden with 80 different garden landscapes in the form of a natural amphitheatre awaits you. Regular events and concerts take place at the water lily pond and the castle itself is home not only to the Touriseum, the museum of tourism history, but also the largest pinball machine in the world.
The 25 pools and the huge sauna landscape in the Terme, in the middle of the spa town of Meran, provide relaxation. In summer, the large green thermal park is open.
Our village: Lana
Lana combines rural idyll and urban flair. Cosy cafés and small shops are lined up here with old mansions, courtyards and around 40 historic churches and chapels, some dating from the early Middle Ages.
The centre of Lana is only five minutes away by car from our Aparthotel abinà. Stroll through the pedestrian zone, have a coffee or an aperitif in one of the cosy cafés or eat a homemade ice cream in one of the ice cream parlours. Every Tuesday there is a farmers' market in Lana and from June to August in the evening the "Long Thursdays" invite you to shop and enjoy in the evening.
As the largest apple-growing village in South Tyrol, Lana is home to the only museum of fruit cultivation in the area. It is located in the historical ambience of the medieval Larchgut estate and shows the history of apple growing.
City, Shopping & more
Meran should definitely be on your to-do list during your holiday in South Tyrol. The spa town is not only convincing with its 800-year-old shopping street under arcades, where shopping becomes an experience, but also with much more.
With its Steinachviertel, the oldest district of Meran, full of romantic, sleepy alleys, with the famous promenades like the “Tappeinerweg” and with the river Passer, the green lung of the city.
A trip worth is the capital Bozen. Whether for shopping, because of the architecture, the many museums or a good Italian cappuccino. It is the city in South Tyrol where Italian and German culture mix particularly intensively.

In our aparthotel abiná you will await comfortable allergy-friendly double rooms and apartments. Modernly equipped with oak floors and high-quality beds. Make your apartment or room your personal retreat after an eventful day in Lana and surroundings.
